Men's 1st Team Vs Ashmoor A

Bodmin set off on a cold, winters day to face Ashmoor twos. Unfortunately, Ashmoor’s first team didn’t have a game so we knew we would be up against it. The game started strongly for Bodmin with good passing and moving creating a couple of chances. Ashmoor slowly worked themselves into the game and started put Bodmin on the back foot. With Ashmoor seemed to always have spare player, making Bodmin pay by sweeping in a goal that deflected off Robin’s first save. Bodmin’s passing deteriorated which led to a second Ashmoor goal. Looking to finish Bodmin off, Ashmoor cut down the right wing and sent in a cross for a tap in at the far post, 3-0.

Ashmore continued with huge pressure. Niall lead the defence like a man possessed trying to keep the score respectable. Suddenly, Bodmin woke up! Man of the match Ed Fitzgerald worked hard in the midfield causing Bodmin to string passes together. The ginger rocket worked the ball up to the goal for a lovely tap in at the far post by Sandy. A few seconds later we had a short corner which Ed dragged flicked at a defender, which was then superbly volleyed in by Hugh… 3-2. Bodmin sensed blood and with some smart two touch hockey, they passed the ball downfield to Ed for a powerful reverse into the bottom right 3-3. With only 10 mins left to go, the game became frantic as both teams were pressing for the winner. Unfortunately, with a just a few minutes to go, Ashmoor managed to work the ball to their centre-forward, and despite huge pressure from Niall to push the player wide right, he managed to slot a worthy winner of a goal into the far side netting. Final score 4-3 to Ashmoor who were worthy winners, but Bodmin went home with heads held high nearly pulling off an amazing comeback.
