A junior hockey club for all.
Bodmin Junior hockey club takes pride in offering hockey for all aged between 5 and 16 years that is accessible for all needs and abilities. We as a club believe that hockey not only provides players with good physical development but also positive emotional and social skills. Unlike other sports, when you play hockey, you can find yourselves becoming part of a hockey family which is competitive on the pitch but shares a deeper camaraderie off the pitch.
Level 1 and 2 Hockey Coaches lead the sessions and are experienced in leading junior players at all levels to make sessions fun but competitive! As coaches we really love seeing how the players develop and grow and there is nothing more rewarding than that moment when they can out-skill you on the pitch.
We have a comprehensive set up at junior level from U8’s through to an U14/16 age group with season running from September through to April. Several junior tournaments are entered throughout the season for various age groups but this is dependent on numbers attending training within each age category. These are usually on a Sunday. As players become older and wiser (13+), they will gain opportunities to be introduced into our senior teams where they continue to learn the game with the benefit of some seasoned old hands to guide them.
Newcomers to the club are welcome to join us for a 2 week free trial period before registering with us. As well as welcoming new members we are looking for coaches or experienced players to join our coaching team and volunteers to help run the club.
JUNIOR TEAMS INCLUDE:
7 aside teams
U10 mixed team
U12 Boys team
U12 Girls team
U14 Girls team
U14 Boys team
What does my child need?
The main thing your child will need is a gum shield and shin pads, which are mandatory.
Astro turf shoes are recommended and your own stick is preferable but if you don’t have one, ask us and we can lend one of ours.
A waterproof jacket/coat
Bring a drink – hockey is a fast paced game and can be thirsty work.
