Final Pre-Season Friendly
Posted by Ben Tucker on 24 September 2023
Being the last week before the league this was the last chance to get some game practice in before the real thing. The first game of the day began at 11.00, being an inter club game between the newly formed mens 3's and the ladies team consisting of a mixture of the 2's and 3's. Both teams new it was a friendly game, but both wanted to win the game. The first half was dominated by the mens 3's who showed some excelent passing and team work throughout this half, but the women showed the men just how quickly things could be turned around with switching the play around and putting the pressure on the men to retreat back. Come the end of the first half the men came out ontop and showed high expectations for the next half. From the start of the second half, the men were more tired than the women and they capitalised on this. This half started with the men in total control of the pitch, with the majority of possession and many chances on goal it was only a matter of time before they converted these chance to results. With a short corner which resulted in a second then third, this third was a text book example of how to score a goal from a short corner, with a perfect injection to the top of the D, a speedy slip to the right all before slotting the ball in the back of the net. The women had a goal to bring them back into the game and did so with an amazing goal. The rest of the game was then very back an forth with both sides getting chances on goal, one of which the men capitalised on from a quick conversion, from a short corner storming up the pitch and getting one of the last goals of the game. The game ended in the favour of 6 -1 to the men.
The game which followed was one between the energetic 1's and a youthfull CSM team. Both teams were showing a high level of fitness in their respective warm up drills, it was certainly going to be a good game for all. From the start both teams started off like a slient movie, despite this both got on with it keeping their heads up looking for those passes. As the game progressed both teams started to raise the noise level and this led to more chances on goal, and after an unfortunate short corner, CSM had the first goal. But Bodmin kept their heads up and pursued CSM to level the score, moving as a team and defending all together. With the first half over a half time talk took place and seem to do the trick, as from the start of the second half they continued to talk and work as one. Both teams continued to fight with the 1's getting some exceptional shots on goal, short corners and sucessful goals. An unfortunate defending mishap resulted in a penalty flick against Bodmin, which unfortunatly did not go Bodmins way. Bodmin did not Win nor Lose, finishing with a very respectable 4 all draw with this filling the 1's with the determination to beat CSM in the official league match.
Once again our teams were wearing the new shirts representing the team sponsors who we would like to thank again: iJo Power, G&W co., D2C Signs, Rundle & CO AGRI, County Mortgages, Dunbia for all pitching in to get the team shirts and not forgetting Ruthern Valley Holidays for providing the keepers shirts, also our goal sponsor Garage Vitals for donating our new goals. Once again we have some pictures of our teams modeling the new shirts, this week it is the mens 1's, mens 3's as well as the mixture of the Ladies 2's & 3's.
