Men's Pre-season Friendlies
Posted by Ben Tucker on 16 September 2023
The day began with the mens 2's playing against Falmouth. From the starting whistle the 2's commanded the pitch and played a very dominant first half getting opportunities left, right and centre. After such a dominant half, tiredness had caught up with the team but they kept giving it there all eventually slotting the ball in the goal after an expertly co-ordinated short corner. As the game progressed and energy lacking, falmouth fought back and levelled the score to 1-1.
With the 2's game wrapping up, showing that this season they were going to be achieving the results they deserve, the debut game for the mens 3's was nearing closer. The whole team were eagerly warming up together before the time finally came for the game to commence. When the game began Falmouth showed a wealth of strength and pushed the team into conceeding 3 goals, but the 3's wouldn't let them have it that easy. With a few substitutions to not get too tired, team work helped them to turned the tides around and forced Falmouth back, even getting some chances on goal. Then half time came and a pep talk from the captain of the team and words of wisdom from the 1's captain filled the team with motivation to claw back the score. From the get go of the second half, the 3's appeared to be the dominant force moving up the pitch as a team and defending with all their might. With one of these presses as a full team on Falmouth, a wonderfully placed ball in the centre of the goal and right at the top so as the Falmouth keeper had no way to stop it the 3's scored a textbook goal in their debut game! With this new found confidence and much help from the 1st team from the side lines, the 3's kept their heads high and motivated until the end, unfortunately, conceeding 2 more goals before the final whistle. Despite not being a glamorous win which would have been the Icing on the cake for the newly formed team, it has certainly shown that as a team they will go far in the league, ending their 1st game 5-1.
Rounding off the day, the 1st team were put head to head with Penzance. From the side lines you could tell this was going to be a good show and the 1's did not disappoint. From the off Bodmin 1's were the team on top, playing with their usual high level of skill and with a calm head. This spilled over into the second half as well where they stayed on top rounding the day off with an outstanding and clearly dominant win of 7-1, there is little doubt that the 1st team will be fighting at the top of the league table.
